Jay Kohlhagen, Candidate for Collier County Mosquito Control Board
30,000+ Acres

can be treated in a single aerial mosquito mission in Collier County. The elected board decides when, how, and with what budget — this seat matters.

Collier County deserves modern, accountable leadership.

Mosquito control is one of the most important — and often overlooked — public health responsibilities in our county. The Mosquito Control District helps protect residents and visitors from nuisance and disease-carrying mosquitoes while preserving the quality of life that makes Collier County such a special place to live.

The Board of Commissioners plays a critical role in overseeing the district's budget, leadership, and public accountability. That means this office is about much more than appearances — it is about careful stewardship, public trust, and responsible oversight.

I'm running because local government works best when it is competent, transparent, and focused on results. Collier County deserves leadership that asks smart questions, studies the numbers, respects science, and keeps the focus where it belongs: protecting residents and respecting taxpayers.

Leadership

Why Voters Can Trust Me

I’m a long-time resident of this community, and I’ve spent my life building a reputation based on showing up, doing the work, and being accountable for the results.

With 46 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects, I understand responsibility, budgets, and the importance of getting things done right the first time. There’s no room for excuses when people are counting on you and that’s a mindset I bring to everything I do.

I believe in transparency, straightforward communication, and making decisions that serve the best interests of the community not politics.

Trust isn’t something you say—it’s something you earn over time. And I’ve spent decades earning it.

Focused on results — not noise, not politics.

As commissioner, I will focus on practical, measurable priorities that strengthen public trust and support effective mosquito control across Collier County.

01

Protect Public Health

Mosquito control is first and foremost a public health mission. Effective oversight helps reduce risk and protect the well-being of residents and visitors.

02

Use Science and Data

Decisions should be guided by surveillance, field data, and modern mosquito management practices — not assumptions or outdated habits.

03

Respect Taxpayer Dollars

Every budget decision should reflect discipline, transparency, and measurable value for the residents funding the district.

04

Improve Transparency

Residents deserve clear information about district operations, treatment efforts, goals, and spending — not bureaucratic runaround.

05

Put Residents First

Good government is responsive. People should be able to report issues, get answers, and feel confident their concerns are heard.

06

Chemical Accountability

Residents have the right to know what is being sprayed in their neighborhoods, when, and why. Oversight must include public notification and clear reporting standards.

The Mosquito Control Board is a serious public trust.

Many voters may not realize how important this office is. The board oversees one of the county's most critical public health services — and commissioners are accountable to you.
